英语笔记(1)–A tale of two cities

1) entreat:If you entreat someone to do something, you ask them very politely and seriously to do it.
2) nincompoop: a stupid person
3) A toast to the kings health: 为国王的健康而干杯
4) I pray you overlook the impulsiveness of youth. 我请求您原谅年轻人的冲动
5) As far as I am concerned, it’s quite sufficient. 就我而言,已经足够了。
6)On the tip of your tongue: If a word is on the tip of your tongue, you know you know the word, but you just can’t quite remember it at the moment.
7) atheist 无神论者
8) In suffering, one learns many things.
9) We can’t always be at our best.
10) You are young and your whole life’s before you.
11) I would embrace any sacrifice for you and for those dear to you.
12) Why do you have to endure it?
